I have never had an EEG, so I am curious to see the results. From my understanding, they want me to get an EEG because I had a seizure. I guess it would be to see the cause. Honestly, it seems pretty straightforward and is a waste of time. I think the seizure was caused by the fact that I wasn’t drinking enough water. It could be from doing too much as well. One of the main causes of a seizure is epilepsy, so they probably want to test me for that. According to the article, “What is Epilepsy?”, from cureepilepsy.org, “In general, epilepsy and seizures result from abnormal circuit activity in the brain. Any event ranging from faulty wiring during brain development, brain inflammation, physical injury, or infection can lead to seizure and epilepsy. Underlying causes for epilepsy include Brain structure abnormalities, Genetics, Immune system abnormalities, Infectious disease, Metabolism changes, Stroke, Trauma, Tumors, and Unknown causes. However, according to recent estimates, in up to 50% of patients diagnosed with epilepsy, the cause is unknown (idiopathic).”
According to the article, “Seizures after Traumatic Brain Injury”, from NCBI.gov, “Seizures can happen in 1 to 5 of every ten people who have had a TBI, depending on where the injury occurred in the brain. The seizure usually happens where there is a scar in the brain as a consequence of the injury.” Stay tuned until next week to find out more. I’ll be updating here.
