My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain Thomas: I’ll continue to do things my way and so this line resonates with me. “I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway” Thomas: Before my accident, I didn’t always get to live a life that was full because I was working so much. After my accident and now that I have money, I could care less. Family and connections have always been fulfilling. I haven’t traveled all the highways but I’ve done as much as I could. Regrets, I've had a few But then again, too few to mention Thomas: I don’t regret much. Everything I do is with intention and I don't regret the things I’ve done. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption Thomas: I’ve done what I’ve had to do. I’ve been forced to make decisions that I don’t want to make but I make the best of what I can do. I planned each charted course Each careful step along the byway Thomas: I am no longer allowed to plan each careful step since my accident and a lot has been decided for me. There is usually something telling me no. There’s always an obstacle in my path for some rhyme or reason. I've loved, I've laughed and cried I've had my fill, my share of losing Thomas: Yes, I have lived a good life. I see there have been some choices that have brought me to a point of losing. And now, as tears subside I find it all so amusing Thomas: I admit, I have not done everything correctly, but at least I can look back and laugh at the small things. To think I did all that And may I say, not in a shy way Thomas: I have experienced this too. I think my persona has developed and I am no longer a shy person. I have been bold and unapologetic. For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught Thomas: If I’m not myself, then who am I? You get tangled up in something that you’re not. To say the things he truly feels And not the words of one who kneels Thomas: To say what he truly feels is important instead of bending over to do whatever they want. Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew Thomas: There have been times where I have tried to take on too much for one's ability. But through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spit it out Thomas: I trust my God and myself. I faced it all, and I stood tall And did it my way Thomas: Boom!

I have been waiting. The anticipation has grown. It’s here! My birthday. I will be going to San Francisco Bubba Gump’s with my mom. It brings me back to when I was a child. Just me and mom. So it was not what I expected. We actually went to Bubba Gump’s and there was a two hour wait. We went to Monterey and went to Chevys which is a Mexican restaurant. It was actually better than I thought because I grew up with this type of food all my life, so even better. My dad ended up coming as well, which was nice. The drive was as you would expect, boring, and I didn’t get to see the ocean. But overall it was an amazing time with my family. My mother had to tell the restaurant about my birthday. So they came out with a piece of cheesecake with strawberry drizzle and they sang happy birthday. Be forewarned, these carbs are evil. They trick your mind into thinking you’re full when you are not, so you over consume. This leads to the number one cause of obesity in the USA. There are so many manufacturers that use high fructose corn syrup and other additives. They are not good for the body. This is what leads to many health problems in the US. I try to stay all natural. If you can grow it, eat it. Otherwise, stay away. From the article Refined Carbs and Sugar: The Diet Saboteurs, it states: “Refined carbohydrates include sugars and highly processed grains, such as white flour. These types of carbs generally have a high glycemic index. This means your body digests them quickly, causing a spike in your blood sugar and insulin levels. Also, when eaten in larger quantities, these foods often have a high glycemic load. The GL refers to how much a food raises your blood sugar levels, based on the serving size. Foods that are high in GI and high in GL have been found to impair brain function”.
Although they are labeled as “superfoods”, there is no specific guideline for what they include. A superfood I would include is blueberries, walnuts, and salmon. Since I am on the topic, I would also like to give a shout out to the Mayan culture as they would eat the chia seeds before battle to give them sustainable energy. I found out about super foods when I was trying to find out what was good for the brain and what else there could be. It wasn’t hard to switch my diet because I always ate really healthy and I was eating a lot of these super foods before.
According to the article “What Makes a Superfood Super?”, it states: “Scientifically speaking, though, there is no official definition of a superfood, other than to say it is a food that offers high levels of desirable nutrients, linked to promoting personal health and wellness or preventing disease and sickness”. It is here! America’s celebration. The Fourth of July. I would like to take this time to acknowledge everyone who is reading this and wish you a happy fourth! And to remember the fallen soldiers that died for our freedom.
When I was a kid, I remember going to the fairgrounds to see the firework display. It was always a time of happiness and joy. I liked walking around with cotton candy and a Pepsi. We would go on some rides and play carnival games just to get the full experience. The firework display was amazing. It was like you were in a movie theater and seeing all the lights in the air. You would get to hear the explosions of the fireworks going off. If you sit close enough to them, you can feel the boom in your chest. And sometimes you don’t know what colors to expect, but mostly red white and blue, the colors of our flag. It has become a great celebration over time, however let’s not forget why we celebrate our freedom. |
