Thanksgiving

This has always been a time to remember with family gatherings and with plenty of food. I'm thankful for the food, the good company, and my friends. I am wishing many blessings to you this Thanksgiving. May we all realize the most important things for which to give thanks.

This year I'm thankful that I don't have to actually leave the house to do my Black Friday shopping!

Best Exercises for the Brain

Exercise is the number 1 thing to keep your brain healthy.  The benefits are as follows:
  • It helps with oxygen and circulation which improves the blood flow to the brain.
  • When you do aerobic exercises it increases your cardiovascular system which inputs oxygen into the blood, then the blood carries the oxygen to the brain.
  • “ In a June study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, Okonkwo followed 93 adults who had at least one parent with Alzheimer’s disease, at least one gene linked to Alzheimer’s, or both. People in the study who spent at least 68 minutes a day doing moderate physical activity had better glucose metabolism—which signals a healthy brain—compared to people who did less.” https://time.com/4841790/exercise-brain/
  • Aerobic exercises are said to boost brain function structure and cognition.
  • Aerobic exercise is also said to improve one's mood.

The Harvest

Thanksgiving, the Reason for the Season:
"Thanksgiving Day, annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism, and the traditional fare of the Thanksgiving meal typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. With respect to vehicular travel, the holiday is often the busiest of the year, as family members gather with one another. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on Thursday, November 25, 2021."

My immediate family and I would all gather on Thanksgiving to eat turkey, green bean casserole, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. My dad used to watch the Raiders if they were on that day and I would sometimes watch with him. It's a time to be grateful. We all go to work and we are all very busy all year, but this is a good time to reflect and be thankful. I am thankful for my family, my great accomplishments of writing another book, staying connected to everybody, and keeping my blog up to date.
