Once a week Murph, the Pet Therapy woman, comes and brings two of her dogs. Everybody comes out to spend time with the dogs, but I usually go later so I can have more one-on-one time. They are too old to play fetch and to chase so I just pet them and talk to Murph. It's really just time for me to have adult time and to talk to someone else. The dogs are good, but it's nice to have someone else to talk to. For the other residents, the pets are good for companionship and to use fine motor skills to pet the dogs. They just bring a calming feeling.
According to Animal-Assisted Therapy and TBI Recovery, dogs can be helpful for social interaction, reconnection, mobility, and calming down. Read More About it Here!
