His Glory

I’m standing on the top of the mountain. The view is incredible. I can see forever. I had to hike all morning to get here. The trail was difficult, but I knew that I could do all things through Him. So I knew that I could reach the mountain top. Now that I’m here, I know that it was worth the hard work.

Now, here I stand. It is as if I can see the whole world. The beauty is overwhelming. The beauty almost takes my breath away.

Here in this amazing place, what will I say? What will I talk about? What comes to my mind?

What comes to my mind is the glory of God. What comes to my mind is God’s power. What comes to my mind is God’s creativity. How did God bring all of this into existence? How did God think of mountains and birds and animals? This amazing place makes me think of my amazing God. And God not only THOUGHT all of this up – He made it happen! How is that even possible?

Imagine all that was required simply to think up and make ONE THING! And God made not only one thing, but every thing! His glory and power and creativity are intrinsic to His nature – it’s just who God is! And while we cannot explain that, we can celebrate it, wonder about it, enjoy it, and . . . choose to be amazed. And the end result is worship. Praise God . . . who dreamed up and made everything!

Standing on this mountain, I feel so small. Before God’s grandeur and power, I feel like a nobody. But God loves me and knows me and finds joy in me!

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which you have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit Him?

O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!
