I recently came across a graphic novel that is very different from what I am used to. It is not just a graphic novel. It is an action packed play-by-play retelling of stories from The Bible. It is incredibly engaging and makes the stories truly come to life. I could not help but think how nice it would have been to have something like this when I was a child and just beginning to learn these stories.
The book is called The Hero Bible by Nicolle A. I have been leafing through it and today paused at the retelling of Luke 2:1: 20, The Birth of Jesus. This is such an important story. I liked the way it is presented with detailed illustrations and clear storytelling. It makes it easy to follow and can keep the attention of readers of all ages. The artwork depicts many familiar characters including Queen Esther, who is illustrated as fierce and powerful. Seeing these figures portrayed so vividly adds a new layer of depth and emotion to the stories. I have been writing my own commentary on the Bible for several years now and this book has inspired me to think about adding more creative elements to my own work as well. If you are interested I have included a link to the direct purchase page below. This would make a thoughtful gift for a new follower or a comic book lover alike.
